Overwhelmed Mother

Hem of garment

Overwhelmed.

Did you feel it in the wee hours of this morning? Tossing and turning.

Yesterday’s reel won’t stop running: “I can’t believe I said that, did that, forgot that.” Heartsick for mistakes made.

Where to turn today with that head about to burst? Just thinking about your to-do list makes your heart bleed.

Maybe the answer is in God’s word to Daniel: God loves you, so don’t let anything worry or frighten you.*

“God’s love? Love is the remedy for my worry and fears?”

Yes. God’s love for you is all that matters.

It doesn’t matter how strong or smart you are. You have to learn to accept your weaknesses and ability to blow it. That uncertainty you feel when facing big decisions, tall giants, or the needs around you:

Projects screaming for success.

Children begging for attention.

Husband longing for affection.

“There is not enough of me.”

Now you’re getting somewhere. When you realize you are not, nor will you ever be enough, only then can God meet your need.

No Supermoms in God’s kingdom. Time to shed the pride and perfectionism. Time to stop looking inside yourself for strength and skill. Be desperate. Reach for the hem of Christ’s cloak.

Your hope today is not tied to how you manage your work life or home life, but how you manage your spiritual life.  More time in the Word? Going to church? Joining a small group? Prayer and worship?

Wherever God’s love is felt, turn there and touch Him.

She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble. Mark 5.2

*Daniel 10.19-20 GNT
